Welcome to Mytikas! A beautiful coastal village on the western coast of Etoloakarnania, between Astakos and Paleros, in front of Kalamos island. A Natura 2000 protected area. It belongs to the Municipality of Xiromero.

It is built on a small peninsula that sticks into the sea like a nose. From there he got his name. This position gives it a special beauty. The two bays that are formed on one and the other side of the nose, are a pole of attraction for many tourists who have the opportunity to swim in their beautiful beaches.

Mytikas Long Beach

Experience the beautiful 3.5 km Mytikas long beach (Mytikas-Paliovarka), one of the longest in the Etoloakarnania area. The sea breeze helps keep you cool in the hot summer months. The scenery is picturesque, with crystal clear waters with Kalamos island in front and rolling hills in the background.

Whether you prefer swimming, laying under the sun, drinking and eating, or a leisurely walk, this beach is perfect for everyone. There are options like beach bars, restaurants with sunbeds and umbrellas. Pass your day on the beach, enjoying the scenery.

Ancient History and Monuments of Alyzia

Alyzia was one of the most important cities of ancient Acarnania. The founder of the city was Alyzeus, son of Icarius and brother of Penelope, wife of Odysseus, and of Lefkadius, who founded Lefkada.

In the Alexandrian years 350-250 BC ancient Alyzia flourished. Silver and bronze coins were minted with the head of Hercules, as well as silver staters.

Chapels & Old Monasteries

The area of Mytikas and Alyzia in general, is home to several old churches and monasteries, reflecting its historical and religious heritage. These structures, often built in traditional Byzantine or post-Byzantine styles, feature beautiful frescoes, stone architecture, and courtyards. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, offer visitors a glimpse into the region’s spiritual and cultural past.

CMAS Freediving Competition - Authentic Big Blue West

Authentic Big Blue is the famous international free diving competition in Greece. Through the “magic” sport of free diving, spreads the word about the clean and safe seas of Greece and praises its authenticity with parallel actions on local cuisine, customs and culture. Free diving is not just a sport. It’s a way of life and Authentic Big Blue is more than a sports event.

The 2nd Authentic Big Blue West – The Ionian Sea Edition hosted CMAS World Cup 2024, co-organized with the Municipality of Xiromero, the Municipality of Lefkada, the Region of Western Greece, the Region of the Ionian Islands, the PED of Western Greece and the PED of the Ionian Islands.

Kablafka Crag in Mytikas, a great spot in Western Greece to start your climbing trip.

Surrounded by the Acarnanian mountains and the green island Kalamos it creates the microclimate of Mytikas, which makes it cool in summer and mild in winter.

Having this favorable climate, it is a place that can be visited at all times of the year, either doing water sports, or doing TRAD climbing on the steep slopes of the Acarnanian mountains or sport climbing in the organized field of Mytikas – Kablafka.
